Gertrude A. Stephens

Gertrude Anna Marie (Seifert) Stephens passed away on January 7, 2012, at Overland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband Wilbert Stephens preceded her in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Friday, January 13, at Church of St. Ann, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Visitation will precede the Mass at the church from 9-10 AM. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

Gertrude was born in Sheboygan, WI, on April 21, 1917. She was married on September 28, 1938, to Wilbert Stephens and moved with her family to Prairie Village, KS, in 1949. She was a member of Church of St. Ann, Prairie Village, KS.

Gertrude was active in sports. She enjoyed tennis, ice-skating, and water skiing. She won medals for speed skating and enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren to also enjoy sports. She enjoyed sewing, designing, antiquing, and refinishing antiques.

A daughter, Janet Landis of Prairie Village, KS, and a son, Wil Stephens of Kansas City, survive her. Gertrude has four grandchildren: Diane Landis of Prairie Village, KS; Stacy Stephens of Leavenworth, KS; Mike Stephens and his wife Jennifer of Springfield, MO; and Laura Barnes and her husband Steven of Cameron, MO. She also has five great grandchildren: Anna and Dakota Johnson, Emily and Roxanna Barnes, and Isaiah Stephens. Please offer condolences at www.mcgilleyhoge.com.
