Harry B. Malnicof, age 86 of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be Thursday, July 14, 2022. Reception will begin at 10:00am at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66207, with Memorial Service to follow at 11:00am. Harry was born on November 20, 1935 in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania to Harry Malnicof and Elizabeth D. (Beck) Malnicof.
Soon after graduating from high school in 1953, Harry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a private. After 23 years of service, he retired as a Major from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1976. He went on to graduate from National College in 1980 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree, Magna Cum laude.
After military retirement, Harry went on to work at Opie Brush Company, as General Manager for several years, then to Johnson County, as Director of Finance for over 10 years, he was the City Administrator for the City of Westwood for several years and finally retired from the City of Leawood as the Director of Finance after 10 years of service.
Harry was an officer with the Overland Park Lions. Harry was also an officer on a local and national level for the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).
Harry was an avid sports fan, a season ticket holder of the Kansas City Chiefs, loved going to Royals games and most of all attending all events for the grandkids from gymnastics meets, soccer games, softball games, dance competitions, band competitions, school concerts and everything in between with his grandkids and great grandkids.
He also loved the being on the water, weather at the Lake of the Ozarks on his Tri-Toon or at the beach with the family.
Harry and Mary Lois Mayock married on March 14th, 1959. They went on to raise a family of three children.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; Harry Malnicof and Elizabeth D. (Beck) Malnicof.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois, of Overland Park; their three children, Wayne Malnicof (spouse Robyn), Terri Scheerer and Daryll Malnicof; and his brother, Bill Malnicof (spouse Carol).
Harry is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Brandon Davidson (spouse Katherine), Brittany Spruytte, Tiffany Russell (spouse Jerrold), Lexi Scheerer, Morgan Scheerer, and Kylee Scheerer; and 3 great grandchildren, Chase Davidson, Brayden Davidson and Hudson Spruytte.
