

Jim was born on January 15, 1948 in Sterling, KS. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1966. He attended Kansas State University, where he earned his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Jim married Marsha Carlson on August 9, 1969. He served in the United States Air Force Veterinary Corp. at Kirtland Air Force Base. He began his veterinary career in Thousand Oaks, CA and continued it in Albuquerque, NM. Then, in 1985 he moved to Lenexa, KS and joined his brother and father in the family business, Scotwood Industries, Inc.
Jim had an infectious smile and sincere love of people. Whatever Jim did, he did wholeheartedly. Over the years his hobbies have included woodworking, restoring antique cars, skiing, fly-fishing and pie-eating. An avid K-State football fan, Jim rarely missed a game and loved talking sports any chance he had. He was devoted to his family and to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jim was active in his church, holding many teaching and leadership roles over the years. His role as Grandpa was one of his most cherished recent achievements and usually included outings for things like ice cream, donuts, swimming and bookstores with his beloved grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Chase C. Wilson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marsha R. Wilson; his mother, Mary Helen Wilson; son, Aaron Wilson (Rachelle); daughter, Jennifer Wilson (Adam Brown); and his grandchildren, Mary Ella and Camden Brown; sister, Dr. J. June Jordan (Harry); brother, Chase Wilson (Elizabeth); and many nieces and nephews.
Dr. James Roger Wilson, age 70, of Lenexa, KS passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2018. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 9th at Hillcrest Covenant Church, 8801 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, KS 66207. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm on Thursday, February 8th at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hillcrest Covenant Church or to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, P.O.
