Keith was born September 7, 1962 to Paul B. and Dolores L. (Swanson) Gloe in Kansas City, Kansas. He was baptized on October 28, 1962 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Kansas. He was confirmed on April 11, 1976 at Faith Lutheran Church, Easton, Pennsylvania.
Keith was joined in marriage to Jeri Melinda Johnson on November 11, 1989 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Overland Park, Kansas. Their marriage was blessed with two children: KC (Keith Christian II) and Katelyn.
Throughout his childhood, he also lived in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey; Mequon, Wisconsin; Barrington Heights, Illinois; and Westport, Connecticut. He spent his high school years in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania graduating from Freedom High School where he played on the men’s volleyball team and was the school mascot. He graduated from Rockhurst University, Kansas City, Missouri in 1985.
After college, he worked for David J Joseph Company as a scrap dealer covering the regions of Birmingham, Alabama and then Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In May of 1988, he moved back to Kansas City and purchased Rosse Lithographing with his dad.
Following his time at Rosse, he devoted himself to his lifelong passion of serving others. Throughout his years he’s served Lutheran congregations in various roles as Vice President of the congregation, chairman of the Board of Elders, chairman of the Board of Member Engagement, Church Council, Board of Stewardship, Board of Trustees, Usher, and was active with the Metro Lutheran Ministry, Lutheran Hour Ministries and many capital campaigns.
As a strong supporter of Lutheran education, he was willing to help wherever needed. While his kids were at Hope Lutheran, he was an assistant coach for basketball, baseball, football, soccer and even track for both kids, and best yet, he was the students’ favorite lunch lady. When his kids started attending Lutheran High School of Kansas City, he served as a key officer on the LEAF board and helped maintain the facility, grounds, and soccer field – if something needed to be built, painted, or mowed, Keith was there.
He enjoyed traveling/road tripping with Jeri, golfing with KC, taking Katelyn on boat rides, fishing with buddies, playing cards with friends, sharing meals around the table with loved ones, and especially spending time at the lake.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Dolores Gloe. He is survived by his wife, Jeri; their son, KC and his wife Chanel of Lenexa, Kansas and daughter, Kate of Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his siblings: Paul, Claudia, Ron, Brian and his wife Betsy, along with 10 nephews and nieces and many great-nephews and great-nieces. He is also survived by many friends who had become as close as family – Keith loved having more aunts, uncles, and cousins for his kids.
