Linda A. Brookshire

Linda Ann Brookshire, 86, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021, at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park, Kansas. Linda “Lin” was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on March 8, 1934, to Lawrence and Zoe Goodhue. She graduated from Ft. Fairfield High School and attended Colby College in Waterville, Maine to receive an Associate of Arts degree. She met the love of her life, Jack Brookshire, an officer in the Air Force, while he was stationed at Loring AFB in Limestone, Maine in 1954. Jack and Lin were married in 1955, and subsequently had three children, Jeff, Jennifer and Jim - all of whom grew up in Overland Park and attended Shawnee Mission South High School. Since Jack was a pilot for TWA and was away frequently, Lin shepherded the family, while making time for golf at Brookridge CC and then Leawood South CC. A promise made by Jack to Lin was upheld as every summer the family would join the rest of the Goodhue clan for a reunion in Pemaquid, Maine. Jack and Lin were longtime members of United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood. Linda was an avid entertainer, happiest with a house full of family and friends. She was an eternal optimist with a fabulous sense of humor, her smile and love of life will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Linda is survived by her son, Jeff, and his wife Judy of Azle, TX; daughter, Jennifer (Brookshire) Dunn, and her husband Steve of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; and son, Jim of Sudbury, MA. “Grammie Lin” was most proud of her seven grandchildren, Zoe (Dunn) Hanson, Brynne (Dunn) Jones, Taylor Brookshire, Ashlee Brookshire, Kayla Brookshire, Jackson Brookshire and Calliste Brookshire, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Lawrence Michael Hanson (17 months) and Georgia James Jones (8 months).

Due to the virus, the Celebration of Life service will be held sometime in the summer. The family requests that all memorial contributions be sent to the Staff Appreciation Fund (Memory Care), Tallgrass Creek, 13770 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66223.
