

Marilyn F. Pierce, 79, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on January 31, 2015, after battling lung cancer. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 7, at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Chapel, Friday, February 6 , which would have been Marilyn’s 80th birthday. Graveside services will be 3:30 pm Saturday, February 7, at the St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
Marilyn was born February 6, 1935, in Emporia, KS. She was married to Gregory L. Pierce on December 27, 1953. Marilyn worked for over 30 years in the property management industry, managing apartment and office complexes in the Kansas City area, as well as Atlanta and Philadelphia. Most recently, she worked for Price Brothers managing several different apartment complexes. She was a loving and caring mother, and in her spare time, Marilyn loved visiting family, reading, and watching sports. Marilyn had a positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor, even while undergoing treatment for lung cancer. Preceding her in death were her parents, Victor and Edna Burns; two brothers, Donald Burns and Victor Burns; her twin sister, Marian Thompson; and her former husband, Greg Pierce. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy McCoy (Chip McCoy) of St. Charles, MO, and Julie Holliday (Kevin Morgan) of Olathe, KS; grandson, Taylor McCoy; granddaughter, Jennifer Morgan; and her brother, Robert Burns of Overland Park, KS.
