Mary Rita Zang

Mary “Rita” Zang , 80, of Overland Park, KS. Passed away on January 11, 2015. A Memorial gathering will be held at 2pm Sunday, January 18, 2015 at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204. Following this gathering family and friends are welcome to attend a wake at the home of Samantha & Craig Willis 7700 W. 101st Street, Overland Park, KS 66212. Rita was born April 6, 1934. She and her brother Tom were lovingly adopted by Margaret and James Postlewait. She was raised in Independence, MO. Attended St. Mary’s & Bishop Hogan High School. She also attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, KS. She married Thomas A. Zang, the love of her life, on January 2, 1954. She and Tommy raised two daughters and two sons. They lived in many areas of the country until settling in Miami, FL in 1963. In 1983 they returned to the Midwest to help care for her mother in Prairie Village, KS.

She was preceded in death by her father James Postlewait, brother Thomas Postlewait, mother Margaret Postlewait-Clinton and by her loving husband Thomas A. Zang. She is survived by her four children Christine E. Zang, Mary Karen Reese, David J. Zang and Robert T. Zang, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

A mother holds her children’s hands for a little while… but their hearts forever.
