She was born on April 29, 1924 in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of William and Laurina Lackey.
In 1943, she married Regis F. Stallbaumer and the couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1949 and then to Overland Park, Kansas in 1954 where she resided for over 65 years. Monica and Regis raised two children, Raymond D. Stallbaumer and David F. Stallbaumer.
Monica worked for Safeway supermarkets for 36 years. She enjoyed many wonderful years with her family, siblings, grandchildren and good friends in her neighborhood. Monica was always eager to play any type of card game and was an avid fan of Kansas Jayhawk basketball. She regularly attended Queen of the Holy Rosary Church near her home.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Regis; her son, Raymond D. Stallbaumer; grandson, Shawn Stallbaumer; her sisters, Remiga Lierz and Alice Kongs; and brothers; Hubert Lackey and Gerald Lackey.
Monica is survived by her son, David F. Stallbaumer and spouse, Patty of Newton, Kansas and Raymond’s surviving spouse Kathleen (Hutton) Stallbaumer of Erie, Colorado; as well as her brother, Eugene Lackey of Lincoln, Nebraska. Monica was the cherished grandmother of Shelley (Stallbaumer) Staehr, Mike Stallbaumer, Jason Stallbaumer, Ashley (Stallbaumer) Pierson, and Tiffany (Stallbaumer) Dore. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2020 with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church at 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66204; physical distancing and wearing of masks will be required to attend the service (which may limit attendance). Private family interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas following the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in her honor.
