

Nancy Messenger King passed away on Wednesday, December 9th and is missed by her large and loving family. She was born May 25, 1928 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Nancy married her childhood sweetheart, J. Tenbrook (Tem) King. She graduated from the University of Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music. Nancy was a trained soprano and performed for many organizations in Kansas City.
She was a devoted mother and wife, raising 4 children, Melissa, Sarah, Matthew, and Patrick. She took an active role in all their activities and was their biggest cheerleader.
Nancy loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing tennis all her adult life. She was an accomplished angler, well known for her fly fishing skills. She was also a master gardener, a lifetime member of Chi Omega and an active member of PEO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. Tenbrook King.
Nancy is survived by her 4 children and their spouses, Melissa Anderson and her husband, Mark, Sarah Hull and her husband, Byron, Matthew Tenbrook King and his wife, Candace, and Patrick Jay King; 7 grandchildren and their spouses; and 8 great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was to watch her family grow and thrive through 4 generations.
Nancy will be remembered and cherished as a kind and gracious person.
