Norma Ann Hawk (Gower), 74, of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 10, 1949 to Lawrence Arthur and Lavinia (Vicky) Gower (Anderson). She graduated high school from Shawnee Mission North on June 1, 1967, and still remained in contact with several friends from high school up until her passing. She was an incredibly hard worker, making sure her family was always taken care of, retiring from Oracle Corporation in the summer of 2019, after twenty-two years of service.
It's difficult to sum up the life of a woman as extortionary as Norma in several paragraphs. She was a devout Christian, who loved and protected her friends and family with a passion that shouldn't be crossed. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time with loved ones, bowling, gardening, reading, cooking and traveling. She was goofy and fun to be around, always cracking a joke. And if there was laughter to be heard, you couldn't miss which one was hers. Most of all, Norma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. There was nothing she wouldn't do to make sure we were safe and happy. Her absence has left an immense hole in our heart that will forever be void. But we are comforted at the fact she is no longer sick and in pain, reunited with her husband of fifty years who she had missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Wayne Hawk; her sister, Paula DeCaire (Gower); and brother, Kenneth Wayne Gower. She is survived by her son, Shawn Edward Hawk (Denna); her grandsons, Samuel and Jacob Hawk; her daughter, Tamara Lynn Hawk (Brandi); and her furbaby, Lucy.
Visitation will be held at McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas on Tuesday November 21, 2023 at 9:00 am, followed by a 10:00 am service.
