Rex graduated from Atchison High School, attended Pittsburg State, served in the U.S. Navy 1952-1956, also serving on the USS Merrimack, USS Bennington and a tour of Newfoundland. He retired from Continental Oil Company (Conoco) and Bank of America.
Rex enjoyed wintering in Texas, traveling and spending time with his biggest joy – his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed the Chiefs, Royals and KU Basketball.
He is survived by wife, Alma Murray; brother, Michael Murray; children, R.E. (Terri Diane), Jill Miller (Randy), and Thayne (Terri); grandchildren, Christopher Miller (Jamie), Hayden Murray (Mia), Jacob Murray, Hunter Murray, Jordan Hooks (Josh) and great-grandchildren, Adaline and Charlotte Miller.
Private family service at Church of the Resurrection, followed by a Celebration of Life Service (all are Welcome) on Tuesday, December 14th from 2:30 - 4:30 pm at 8918 Robinson Street, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ascend Hospice.
