Dick Schenberger, 84, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on September 22, 2012 at The Sweetlife at Brookdale Place. Dick was born on December 29, 1927 in Paola, Kansas. After proudly serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Dick relocated to Abilene, Kansas where he and his wife Vivian raised 4 children. In 1971, he moved to Overland Park, and began a long career in automotive sales with O’Neill Oldsmobile and Major Cadillac in the 70’s and 80’s. Dick enjoyed spending his time as a member of the Order of Elk’s Lodge 2395 in Overland Park, traveling to air shows, and will always be remembered for his passion for cars and airplanes. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jane Weybrew. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vivian; his 4 children, Judy (Keith) Miller, Bette (David) Smith, Robert (Janice) Schenberger, and Nancy Wiens; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his sister Ena Eger.
A Memorial Service for Dick will be at 11 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, with a visitation from 10 – 11am prior to the service, at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204. The family suggests memorial contributions in Dick’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105.
