It is with great sadness but full of gratitude for his life that we announce the death of our beloved Roch J. Herrick. A multi-talented husband, father, and gifted artist, he was known mostly by family and friends as a kind man and gentle soul. Though shy he loved to laugh and brought joy to people of all ages with a childlike and quirky sense of humor.--
Imagine it is decades ago. You are walking into a new grocery store. As you peek around the corner into the in-store bakery department, behind the donut filler you see a teen-aged boy, the store owner’s youngest son and a track star, standing at a large wooden counter and happily icing and decorating a cake with a spatula and a pastry bag. Clearly, he is immersed in his task and having fun with it. Now fast forward in your mind through many twists and turns of life to today’s world.
Roch (rock) Herrick's unique artistic style incorporated a wide range of expressive media including graphic design, fine art, film, video and digital animation. An honor graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design (Sarasota, Florida), Roch parlayed his Graphic Design skills into a successful multifaceted career. He quickly established a reputation for producing dazzling, sophisticated, and elegant work.
Aside from his colorful career, Roch, the youngest of 10 siblings, was dedicated to his family. His wife Beverley (Hoffman), his son Billy and his brothers and sisters. Roch was extremely proud of his son's talents in music, art, track and field, as well as working towards Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts.
Aside from art, Roch loved to cook. He liked to try out new recipes, tweak them and call them his own. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family on any occasion. Always with a ready smile, Roch was known as a kind man, a storyteller and a nice guy. Everybody loved Roch, and Roch loved everyone.
He is survived by his siblings: Dick Herrick (Stella), Pat Sheridan (Joe), Anita Mullet (Sam), Chris Baasten (Neil), Tim Herrick, Jan Thomas, Chuck Herrick (Candy), Mark Herrick, Bob Herrick (Steve).
His son’s education and the school were very important to him. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Bishop Miege High School in Roch’s name at www.BishopMiege.com/memorials
