Ronald Scott Knapp, 54, was welcomed to his eternal heavenly home on Saturday, June 17, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Scott was born to Ronald Allen Knapp and Frances Maxine (Leach) Knapp on July 28, 1968, in Fairfax, MO.
As a child, Scott grew up in rural Forest City, MO enjoying adventures with his brother, sister, and many cousins on the family farm. He attended school in Mound City, MO graduating in the class of 1986. As a teenager Scott worked after school at his father’s construction company learning the construction trade. After graduating Scott moved to Overland Park, KS to work alongside his older brother and father in the family business, R.A. Knapp Construction, Inc. After 35 plus years Scott decided along with his wife and son to start Liberty Key Enterprise, L.L.C.
Scott met Rebecca Ann Thessing, they fell in love, and they were married on February 12, 2011, and resided in Shawnee, KS with their dogs Molly and Sasha. Together they enjoyed the sanctuary he created for her in their backyard. They loved spending time just relaxing at home, going on meandering drives, walks with their dogs, traveling, picnics, and dreaming about their future.
He loved the family farm for all of its memories and its peacefulness. He thoroughly enjoyed the recent months of work in Mound City and loved working and playing alongside his son and reconnecting with people from his youth. He had intentions of revitalizing and developing the farm for his family to enjoy.
Scott was passionate about many causes. He cared deeply about orphans and the homeless; the abused & the forgotten ones that couldn’t seem to help themselves. He was full of creative ideas and was determined to make the world a better place, particularly for those in need.
Scott loved attending worship services and sermons at Bridgeway Church and always looked forward to Sunday mornings. He loved music & he had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, being an avid reader. He enjoyed hunting, camping, riding motorcycles, learning to play the guitar, and savoring slow mornings and late nights. Scott was fascinated with airplanes and obtained his pilot's license for the many trips he planned to take with friends & family.
Scott will be remembered as the best storyteller, possessing a laugh bigger than life. He had a magnetic personality. To know him was to love him. Scott was ornery, quick-witted, and had a talent for making others laugh. He was spontaneous, fun loving and quick to forgive. He cherished his wife, children, family, and friends greatly & treasured time spent with them. He absolutely loved kids. He made sure to forge a special bond with his nieces and nephews, ensuring that each one felt special, known and loved. He was known for organizing pushup competitions at family gatherings and engaging in arm wrestling matches. His go big or go home personality used a foam concrete machine to create a surprise yard full of bubbles for his little nieces. Mentoring and pouring into others was a priority to him, as he always saw the potential in everyone he met. Simply put, Scott had an amazing heart and would do anything for anybody.
Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Frances Leach, Floyd and Goldie Knapp. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of the home, Rebecca Knapp; beloved children, Lauren (Jordon) Peters of Kansas City, MO, Zane Knapp of Lenexa, KS, Chace Knapp, Shawnee, KS and Nathan Stucky, Houston, TX; parents, Ronald Allen Knapp and Frances Maxine (Leach) Knapp, Lenexa, KS; brother, Richard (Heidi) Knapp, Lenexa, KS; sister, Ronda (Doug) Thompson, Stilwell, KS; and several adored nieces and nephews, Trevor, Harley, Asa, Addyson, Savannah, Caroline, Bradley, Bella, Emma, Ruthie, Addelyn, Ariya, Layla and Nicholas.
