Terrence "Terry" E. Mann passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family he loved and cherished. Born on October 26, 1938, to Theodore and Mary Mann, Terry lived a life defined by dedication to his family, a sharp business mind, and a legendary ability to fix just about anything.
Terry’s life changed forever on a blind date when he met Susan, the woman who would become his lifelong partner and best friend. They recently celebrated 63 years of marriage—a beautiful testament to a love that only grew stronger with time.
Terry was a proud graduate of the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the first of three generations of KU Sig Eps. Terry carried his love of the Jayhawks throughout his life. After earning his business degree, he embarked on a distinguished career that spanned the coffee industry with Folger’s and Cargill, and later the energy industry with Kansas Gas Service. His professional life was marked by the same integrity and work ethic he applied to everything else. He took great pleasure as a member of the Kansas City Breakfast Club and was also an honorary member of the Missouri Restaurant Association.
Terry was a man of many projects. Whether it was under the hood of a car, out in the yard ensuring he had the best-looking lawn on the block or detailing his cars until they were the cleanest in the neighborhood, he took immense pride in his work. There was no problem around the house that Terry couldn't solve with his tools and his trademark persistence.
His love for adventure took him and Susan across the globe, exploring new cultures and landscapes together. Yet, some of his fondest memories were made closer to home during summer vacations in the mountains of Colorado. This cherished family tradition has been carried on by his children and grandchildren, a lasting legacy of his love for the outdoors and family togetherness.
Terry’s commitment to others was evident in his service as a Boy Scout leader for his sons and his years spent as a chaperone for his daughter’s high school ski club. He was a man who showed up, whether he was fishing at a quiet lake or cheering on his grandchildren at their many activities. At home, he was often found with his loyal dog, Maggie, by his side.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Mann; his children: Kim Driver (Dave), Chris Mann (Sherrie), and Matthew Mann (Jaime); eight cherished grandchildren: Alex Driver (Kelsey), Katie Alexander (Vernon), Garrett Mann (Leslie), Nathan Mann, Brian Mann, Colten Mann (Katarina), Aiden Mann, and Trenten Mann; and four great-grandchildren: Aiden and River Alexander, Griffin Driver, and Hailey Mann.
Terry will be remembered for his steady hands, his adventurous spirit, and deep, abiding love he had for his family. His presence was a cornerstone of their lives, and his legacy will live on in every Colorado sunset and every perfectly manicured lawn.
