

William A. Day, 92, of Basehor, Kansas passed away September 29th, 2016 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. His funeral service will be 11:00am, Monday, October 3rd at the McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel with visitation to begin at 10:00am. Burial will follow service in Corinth Cemetery. Bill was born July 8th, 1924 in Gillespie, Illinois. Playing quarterback for his team at Guidon Military College, he married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Jean McLaren. He served for the United States Army as a paratrooper during WWII in Germany and received multiple awards for his heroism. Returning home, he worked as the Under Sheriff for the Johnson County sheriff’s Department in Mission, Kansas. After serving his community, he embarked on a new path as the Project Manager for the Keller Building Products, controlling several branches throughout the United States. Bill was a member of the American Legion, the Nat’l Rifle Assoc., and the Brookridge Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his daughter, Diana McLaury. He is survived by his beloved granddaughter, Bethany and her husband, Paul, and two great grandchildren, Anna Marie and Bus and son-in-law, Jim McLaury.
