

Ames was born in Port Washington, NY, on October 28, 1939, son of John and Yolanda Ressa. He was a 1958 graduate of Paul D. Schreiber High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Marines in 1958 and served until 1961.
Ames worked in several different industries throughout his lifetime, but spent the last 50 years in the swimming pool industry. He was a Certified Pool Contractor who owned and operated Classic Pools for several years.
Ames was very family oriented and loved nothing more than helping people. He was known and loved by all who met him, having many lifelong friends, a keen sense of humor and a kind and gentle heart. He was known for his culinary skills, which came from the heart, not from a cookbook. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Twin Rivers Golf Club.
Ames is survived by his wife, Debby Garrett Ressa, whom he married in 1982. He lost his oldest son, Scott Joseph Ressa, in 1986 but is survived by two sons, Steven Charles Ressa of Roswell, GA, and Michael Ames Ressa of Woodstock, GA, his grandson, Zachary Ames Ressa (Brittney), currently of Fort Jackson, SC, his sister, Terry Lynn Zukowski (John), his brother, John Pace Ressa, both of Port Washington, NY, brother-in-law, Michael Varnell Garrett (Jeannie) of Winston, GA, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
