Amy Beth Zeh-Rommel passed away peacefully on April 24, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Oviedo, Florida. She was born March 24, 1963 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She graduated high school from New Trier East in Winnetka, Illinois and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois and her graduate studies at the University of Missouri. Daughter of the late William P. and Jane C. Zeh; grand-daughter of the late Willard “Pete” and Bess Call and the late Anthony and Eunice Zeh. She is survived by her loving husband David; cherished daughter Olivia; her siblings Jenifer (Robert) Garrison, Jim (Colleen) Zeh and Carrie (Bob) Allen; her loving nieces and nephews; Rob, Charlotte, Lindsey, Katelyn, Lauri, Greg and Kathy; four great-nieces; two great-nephews; her Uncle Buz and Aunt Betty Call; many cousins and her dear friends Paul Schremp and Jorge Leyva. Amy was very passionate about theatre. She began performing on stage in high school and college. After graduation she spent many years in Chicago and Milwaukee as a performer, director and producer. She met her husband-to-be in Milwaukee where she began work on her masters in English. The two later moved to Kansas City, MO where they married and Amy completed her masters in English at the University of Missouri/Kansas City. Amy gave birth to their daughter Olivia in 2002. The family relocated to Orlando, Florida in 2006 where Amy accepted a position with the University of Central Florida as Assistant Director of Service Learning, and was later promoted to Director. Amy will be remembered as a sweet, kind soul of unassuming wisdom, who delighted in laughter and lively discussion. She was a strong willed, gentle woman with an unwavering moral compass and the energy, grace and commitment to drive positive change in her home, workplace and community. She was a loving, faithful and devoted wife. As a mother she modeled the values she espoused in nurturing her daughter, now an impressive young woman of sixteen. She raised her daughter to appreciate all peoples and cultures and worked diligently to make it possible for Olivia to travel the world. As an administrator and educator, Amy nurtured and developed those same qualities in the next generation of young leaders, now poised to take up the mantel she set aside.
Amy was deeply saddened by the rise of homelessness in her community. In lieu of flowers, Amy would like you to donate money or time to a homeless shelter in your community.
