Hi.  I worked for Artie at the winter park wheel ranch . I ran the service department and when we got a bunch of cars from the auction I’d would get them ready for the lot .He was so cool lol. We got a white turbo trans am in and Artie drove it a lot. Haha. Between me and the salesman we made it difficult for him I remember.  We used to have a gas pump there and use it to put gas in the cars for the lot. But everyone was filling up the trades they were using from the lot ..Artie let some of the salesman use any car from the lot to drive home. But it started to cost the store to much because of all the accidents and the fuel usage.  Not many bosses would treat their employees like Artie did.  I met my wife there as well . She was a parts delivery driver from Fern Park Auto Parts.  I use to order little things like cans of spray paint or mindless stuff to get her to come so I could see her.  Haha. Artie knew what I was doing but let me anyway. I wound up marrying her and have two lovey daughters now . I bought a Blue 79 Z28 from there and one day I came to work and parked in front of my bay window to the service area was a red 68 corvette. Convertible they must of got in on trade the night before … I ran into Artie’s office and we may a deal before the ink was dry off the trade in paperwork…I gave him the Z and bought Vet 
. I got married shortly afterwards in that car .  and the friends of mine put coins behind the center caps of all 4 wheels. It took me a while before I realized what that noise was every time I was going slow .  lol.   Anyway this is just one or two of my memories working for Art and Artie.  What I remember most is how we were all treated.  It was a family business and we were all part of his family.  Artie. I hope you are with all your loved ones now.  I think of you often still.   To his children. Your dad must of touched many lives in his short time on this earth.  It’s over 40 years since I worked for this family. I still think of those days

I was thinking about Artie just today and wondered where he was.  I worked for Holler Chevrolet back in the mid 1980s and was their Fleet Manager. Sorry to hear he passed several years ago. I'm now 60 and remember the joy on his face when he bought a red metallic Greeenwood Twin Turbo Corvette Convertible from me. I loved working with him to get him the vans he needed.  What a terrrific guy and I know he is missed by his family and friends.  Rest peacefully Artie.

I worked for mr artie briefly. I took care of his van dealership lot back in the very early 1990s. I lived as sedge field apts at the time. He was very nice man.i remeber the parrots he had at the van dealership. Sorry to hear he passed away.i now lived in texas.

I was looking at some pictures of the Cayman Islands when it occurred to me that I lost track of Artie after briefly touching base with him on Facebook 3 or 4 years ago. I lived next door to the Grindle's in Houston when I was just 7 or 8 years old but still have fond memories of Artie and the entire family. I remember him dressed up in his cowboy boots and hat as he often chatted with me when I was hunting for crawdads in the near by ditches. Having had a chance to see his Facebook timeline I got to see a lot of underwater pictures near Little Cayman where I planned to eventually visit myself. Not having been to the Cayman's since the early 70's I'm eager to see them again and it would have been nice to eventually catch up with him there. Finding his obituary tonight was the last thing I expected. My heart goes out to Kathy, Betsy, Gale and Artie's other family members.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your brother. I am a "name from the past". I worked for your dad and with Artie way, way back in the late '60s to early '80s, I actually kept up with your dad as recently as a few years ago. We used to meet up every couple of months or so for breakfast. I remember Artie so well as he had recently graduated from college and was working his way up through the "Wheel Ranch" and "Tropic Traveler" dealerships. We always had a great time and I'm sure he will be sorely missed by everyone.

Knew all the Grindle kids as I worked for Art when he first came to Orlando and years after. Remember Artie as the "owners kid" who never was cut any slack but always did a great job. Very fortunate to have known Artie.

I worked for Artie Grindle for more than 7 years at Tropic Traveler Vans in Winter Park and can't say enough about how well he treated his employees that were dedicated and worked hard for him. Christmas was special, but Christmas in July was always a blast. He was a smart businessman with a great sense of humor and I will miss him. He helped many of us get a start in life and was always willing to help the people that helped his business thrive. I still miss being your right hand man at Tropic Traveler.May there be calm waters and plenty of fishing.

I worked for Artie for 7 years and knew him for many more. He was by far the best employer you could hope to work for. He expected as much out of you as he did out of himself, but rewarded everyone there for their hard work and dedication by showing his dedication in kind to his employees. Christmas was fun, but Christmas in July was a big deal at Tropic Traveler Vans and the excitement in every employee was evident for the weeks leading up to it. I just want to give my thanks for all the little things you did to set me on my way in life, all the sound advice you dispensed, along with the small bits of slightly twisted humor. I'll miss you Artie, Thank you again for everything you did.

We knew Jan and Attie very well from St. John's.  We have wonderful memories of both of them.  May they rest in peace.

Art was a good friend of mine from High School...He lived a wonderful life.

Artie's passing is a great loss to the world and a significant personal loss to us.  We spent many hours with him fishing, diving, eating and just hanging out.  His infectious laugh and sense of humor with always be with us.  He will be missed!

I had the great pleasure of working with Artie Grindle and  his father Art Grindle years ago while with Advantis. Artie Grindle was a treasure and a delightful and caring man. He deeply loved his family. I will miss his smile and his caring personality. I am deeply sorry for the family's sudden loss.

Stan and I will miss his smile, his laughter, his sense of humor and genteel manner.  Southern Cross Club visits will not be the same without his presence.  Glad to have had the privilege of knowing him.  I always affectionately called him "El Presidente".  Rest in peace Artie!  My prayers and my heart go out to his entire family.
