Donna Patton Mohney

She was born February 25, 1945 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Charles Patton and Charlotte Coombs Patton.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Vern F. Mohney Jr. of Oviedo Florida, her son, Todd Mohney, wife Kristin, and son Colton of Kissimmee Florida, and by her six brothers and sisters; Robert Patton and wife Sue of California, Connie Wilt and husband George of Pennsylvania, Susie Pfister of Pennsylvania, Marty Patton of Florida, Linda Emmerick of Pennsylvania, and Mitch Patton and wife Lanna of Florida. She was a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Donna and Vern met when she was fifteen years old. They dated for five years and married in 1965 when she was 20 years old. They just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past Christmas.

Donna loved her family, especially her only grandson, Colton. She was always known for being very kind to others. She was an avid artist, often sewing and making various homemade arts and crafts for friends and family. She enjoyed collecting, making, and dressing dolls. The family relocated several times throughout her life due her husband’s work. Donna enjoyed redecorating each of the different residences to include hand making all the draperies. Throughout her life, she enjoyed working with senior citizens. She volunteered at various senior centers over the years, and with meals on wheels programs for the elderly. She worked at The Swiss Colony in Monroe Wisconsin, The Bridge Senior Center in Orlando Florida. and at the University of Central Florida. The job that she was most proud of was when she was the head of the tour guides at the H.J. Heinz Company in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in the mid 1960s through the early ‘70s. She enjoyed antiques, especially Victorian era items, and looking for depression glass collectibles with her husband. She loved bargain hunting and “garage sailing”, where she was always looking for treasures for Colton, her family, and her friends. She especially liked roses, chocolate, and Golden Retriever dogs. She was very witty and loved to laugh.

Donna’s Celebration of Life services will be held on April 14th, at 12:00 noon, at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 501 E. Mitchell Hammock Road, Oviedo, FL 32765

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pawsitive Action Foundation, a nonprofit based in St. Cloud Florida.
