

Leonie was born in Seaforth, St. Thomas, Jamaica on July 8, 1941. She graduated from Wolmer's Girls School for High School, and University of the West Indies and New York University with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Leonie was married to Keith Daley on June 10, 1967, and Noel Shaw in December 1990. Leonie had a career in Social Work in the 80s with the mentally disabled at School of Hope in Mona, Jamaica; then in the Brooklyn hospitals in the 1990s.
Leonie was a member of 1199/SEIU Union. She had a passion for her family, her friends, her God, and her son Rodney.
Leonie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alexandra; brothers Fitz, James, and Cleve; sisters Pearl and Lolita.
Leonie is survived by her son Rodney Daley; stepchildren Keith Michael Daley, Robert Daley, Karen Hicks, Elizabeth Johnson; adult adopted daughters Dianne Blue, Cheryl Mihalik, Virginia Madden; sisters-in-law Fay Charles, Cynthia (Shirley) Solomon; nieces Monica (Kay) Hanson-Jackson, Carol Hanson-Miller, Saida, Yasmin, Ama, Judith, Marlene Hanson, Denise Hanson, and Christine Dale. Lorraine Solomon-Samuels, Colleen McNeil-Cheatham, JoAnn McFarlane, Lora McFarlane Tazwell; nephews Peter and Michael Hanson, Christopher McNeil, Locksley Dyce, Theron Grant; cousins Winston Dawes, Al, and Paul Burgess; multiple friends, Winter Springs SDA church family.
