Timothy J. Redmond, 62, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away suddenly at home on June 3, 2021. Proud to be born and raised in Point Pleasant Boro, he was the only son of George and Mary Redmond. Although moving to Florida in 2000, he always longed to be able to be a snowbird and spend his summers back in his beloved Point Pleasant.
He worked at the Offshore Inn for 20 years, only leaving his position as head chef after a work injury. He was quite the chef and enjoyed creating new dishes. Although the last 5 years were spent in a wheelchair, he was still able to enjoy exploring new restaurants in the Central Florida area, especially those along the ocean and inland water ways.
Tim was the administrator of the Facebook group called You’re From Point Beach or Boro. He loved researching and purchasing old postcards and articles showing the history of Point Pleasant with the group. From the overwhelming responses from the group in reaction to the news of his passing, the members genuinely appreciated everything he shared and for making them proud they came from such a wonderful place. He was a compassionate person and always reached out to friends, past and present, with words of encouragement. He was kind to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Haefner Redmond, his mother Mary Irving Redmond and his sister Elizabeth Redmond from Point Pleasant, his mother-in-law, Dolores Davis of Port St. Lucie, FL, and his sister-in-law Kathleen Cashen of Tampa, FL, and his Shih Tzu Mikey. He was predeceased by his father, George Redmond. We know he was greeted in Heaven by his beloved pets, Dallas, Brandy, Sammy, and Brownie.
The date for the funeral mass at St. Martha Roman Catholic Church in Point Pleasant, will be held on Wednesday, July 14th at 11 AM. Immediately following will be the burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local animal shelter.
