Pacific Grove ~ Edward F. Cuddy (also known as Ted), born February 16, 1946 in Manhattan, NY, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family following a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He has lived locally for the past six years. Ted served in Korea with the US Army before beginning his career with Operating Engineers, Local 12. He retired from there after 35 years. He was known for his strong work ethic and immensely enjoyed working at the Monterey Jet Center.
Ted was the “go-to” guy when his family and friends needed his help. He always took care of everyone, making sure they had a car, a place to stay and a little money in their pocket. Ted enjoyed walking the Recreation Trail with his dog, Sunnie, was passionate about good food and, most especially, is remembered as an awesome father and grandfather.
Ted is survived by his wife of eleven years, Katherine; his daughter, Melanie (Tony) Rosa of Monterey; his step-children, Mark (Aubre) Banks and Tammy Alvarez, of Pacific Grove; his siblings, Billy Cuddy of San Diego, Herta Patton of Cathedral City, Susie Pinney of Upland and Jeannie Shirk of Alta Loma; his grandchildren, Aaden and Katelyn and step-grandchildren, Ashley, Alyssa and Amanda.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Ted’s Life next Wednesday, July 20 at 4:00 at 24512 Rim Rock Canyon Rd., Salinas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 945 S. Main, Ste. 201, Salinas, 93901.
