

Edward Belogot Esteban, 93, of Oak Hills, peacefully passed at home Tuesday, January 10, 2023, surrounded by family. Edward was born in Umingan, Pangasinan, Philippines. Edward married the love of his life, Mercedes Pagaduan, on March 21, 1956. She was his neighbor, the girl next door, whom he adored. They were married for 61 years until Mercedes’ death in 2017. They had six children, each named after the letters in Edward’s name.
Edward was stationed in Korea, Vietnam, Hawaii, North Carolina, Germany, and California during his twenty-year military career with the U.S. Army. He served as a drill sergeant and combat truck driver. Always a proud veteran, he received many accommodations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, and Driver’s Badges with Commendation Ribbons.
Edward was an avid fisherman who loved camping and cross-country RVing with his family. He was happiest spending his retirement years with his grand and great-grandchildren and going to the beach with his fishing buddies.
Edward is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mercedes, son Wilfred, parents Antonio S. and Valerian B. Esteban, brother Alejandro B. Esteban, sister Adelaide Cacpal, and son-in-law Roland Daige. He leaves behind his children Edward P. Esteban (NY), Delia E. Irving (CA), Weleen Y.D. Esteban (GA), Alma E. Lung (OH), Ruth Esteban-Muir (VA), Doris E. Landis (CA), their spouses Jennifer Esteban, Jon T. Irving, Peter M. Lung, David M. Muir, Stephen Landis, his grandchildren Steven C. Esteban, William H. Young, Joseph M. Young, Casimera A. Landis, Katrina M. Dodson, Hannah D.L. Landis, Dakota R. Lung, Shane T. Daige, Anton E. Lung, and great-grandchildren Aaliyah Jade Esteban, Tessa Jean Alcarez-Esteban, Annaliese Mercedes Dodson, Michael James Young, Kaalia Marie Young, Owen William Young, his siblings Alfredo Esteban, Carmalita Maximo, Rudolfo Esteban, Reynaldo Esteban, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved loyal dog Roy.
The family will have a private viewing on Friday, January 20, 2023. In February, a military service honoring Edward will be held at the California Central Coast Cemetery in Seaside, California. Following, his family will scatter his ashes in the ocean off the coast of Monterey Bay, where their beloved mother, his darling wife’s ashes were scattered.
