
suddenly from a heart attack on October 23, 2012.
He was 71. Born in Lorain, Ohio, he graduated from Lorain High School, The College of
Wooster, in Wooster, Ohio and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
He was on active duty in the US Army from 1968 to 1980. He was served in Wurzburg,
Germany, Letterman Hospital in San Francisco and Fort Ord, where was Chief of Orthopedics.
He received the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding service to the United States.
He continued his service in the reserves from 1980 to 1990, retiring from the Army as a
Colonel.
He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and opened his private
practice in Carmel in1980. He was on the on the staff at Community Hospital. In 2004, in
appreciation of his dedicated services, outstanding clinical care, and contributions made to
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, he received the Physician Recognition Award.
Ed played high school and college basketball, was a great cook and stellar poker player. He
loved classic country western music, good coffee, and watching the sunrise from his hot tub
each morning.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan, and sons David (Madona) of La Grange, Illinois and
Brian (Sarah Borchers) of Long Lake, Minnesota, sisters Judy Dobras of Birmingham, Michigan,
Christine Cichanowicz of Mansfield, Ohio and brothers James Kingsley of Circleville, Ohio and
William Kingsley of Lorain, Ohio and Leesville, Florida, his grandchildren Rosemarie and Ella
Kingsley of Long Lake, Nick Kingsley of La Grange and many nieces and nephews.
