Gerald "Jerry" M. Shaw

MONTEREY – Jerry Shaw left us on January 31, 2013 to be with his sweetheart, Jo. On June 17, 1933, he and his twin brother, Gene, were born at a rest stop in Lead, South Dakota. Jerry, a graduate of Gallatin County High School and Montana State University, excelled in football, basketball and track.

Jerry married Joanne Winn in Bozeman, Montana on December 17, 1955. Their daughter, Sherri, was born nine months later. Joining Jo’s mother in Carmel, Jo and Jerry welcomed Craig into their family in 1958. They bought their home on the hill in Monterey shortly thereafter.

Jerry worked as an administrator for Monterey County, retiring March 19, 1992. After Jo’s passing on September 13, 2002, Jerry took comfort in the company of his friends, Ron Siebe, Stan Chonacki and Joanne Lombardo. Jerry was an avid fisherman and fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49’ers.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Dan) Beck of Monterey; his son, Craig of Bozeman, Montana; his brother, Richard and numerous nieces and nephews in Bozeman.

Memorial Services will be held at the Monterey Elks Lodge, #1285, 150 Mar Vista Drive, Monterey, CA on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A separate memorial will be held in Montana later in the year.
