Guido is survived by his sister, Linda Moeller; two close cousins, Rosario Scarato and Margurite Hinrichs and the rest of his St. Louis and Pacific Grove family, including many nieces and nephews who love “Uncle Geets”. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Arthur Scarato and Margie Hermelin; his special Aunt Nina Alto, and his friends, John Higgins and Keith Wolhart.
Guido was born in St. Louis to Rocco ("Roy") and Elvira Scarato. He graduated from Washington University with a degree in art. An artist, painter, and singer, after serving in the Navy, Guido moved to Manhattan where he became an art director for several advertising agencies.
While Guido has appeared in numerous musical productions, he was even better known for singing for his friends and family. Guido, a polymath and master of games, appeared on various games shows and he also constructed many crossword puzzles published in the New York Times. Guido moved to PG in 1994, where he created a new life and became close friends with Ed and Ann Dickenson and others too many to name, including his closest and treasured friend, Babette Francis, who supported Guido in the last days of his life.
For decades, Guido’s home in PG, filled with vivid colors, music, and art was the center of countless social gatherings, singing and laughter. A great spirit of the Monterey Peninsula, Guido will be missed and celebrated.
