

Pacific Grove ~ Joyce M. Lewis, born April 2, 1929 in Manchester, England, passed away at her home on July 14. She immigrated to the United States 50 years ago and has lived locally for the past 40 years. Joyce’s career as a waitress spanned 30 years and included working at Sambo’s in Carmel and the Spice Rack in Monterey.
Joyce was an avid reader and a great cook. She loved Pacific Grove, saying it reminded her of her native England. Joyce’s favorite times were those spent with her family.
Joyce is survived by her children, John Thompson of Canada, David Foy of England, Warren (Pamela) Lewis of Mendocino, Ronald ( Barbara) Lewis of Walnut Creek, Michael (Farrah) Lewis of Sunnyvale, Shirley (Tom) Sutor of Seaside and Laura (Phillip) Belushi of Salinas; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church this Wednesday, July 20 at 1:00 PM followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1514-A Moffett St., Salinas, 93905.
