

Monterey ~ Koko Nyunt, born in Rangoon, Burma, passed away at Community Hospital. He came to the Peninsula at the age of two, was a graduate of Monterey High School and attended Monterey Peninsula College. Koko was a receiving and distribution technician at Community Hospital for the past sixteen years.
Koko loved running marathons including the Big Sur International Marathon. A science fiction buff, he enjoyed attending Comic Con conventions. Koko’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Koko is survived by his brothers and sisters: May (Douglas) Dudley of Anthem, Arizona, Swe (Gary) Barron of Monterey, Shay (Wendy) Nyunt of Petersburg, Virginia; Phay (Marrie) Nyunt of Sacramento; Mary (Dave) Nicely of Berkeley and John Nyunt of Monterey; his sister-in-law, Elaine Atkinson of Marina; his nieces and nephews, Charles, Matthew, Gary Jr., Alison, Jennifer, Alex, John Paul, Julia, Maggie, Kurt, Katy, Jessie, Charlotte, Robert and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Han and Yiyi Nyunt and his sister, Zin Dyer.
A private Celebration of Koko’s Life will be this Sunday, July 13. A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 2 in Monterey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Big Sur International Marathon, PO Box 222620, Carmel, 93922.
