Pacific Grove ~ Lieselotte “Lisa” Prock, 94, a long-time resident of Pacific Grove, died on June 10, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born Lieselotte Auguste Beckenbauer on November 4, 1916 in Würzburg, Germany. In 1942, Lisa married Anton Prock of Munich, Germany, but was widowed shortly before the birth of their only child. Lisa and her son immigrated to the United States in 1955. They settled in Pacific Grove, where Lisa worked for many years as a buyer/manager at Holman’s Department Store. After retiring from Holman’s, she worked part-time for several years for the Monterey Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Despite having survived many hardships, Lisa maintained a positive attitude throughout her life and always found ways to have fun. She was an energetic and enthusiastic world traveler, loved going on cruises, and was among the first Americans to visit China when it was opened to Western tourists in the 1980s. Lisa also enjoyed gardening, baking, reading mystery novels, watching vampire movies, and taking gambling trips to Reno. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful mother-in-law, and a generous friend. We will miss her very much.
Lisa is survived by her son, Carl Tony Prock, and daughter-in-law, Jean Prock, of Pacific Grove; grandsons, Kevin (Elvira) Prock of Modesto, California and Erik (Christie) Prock of Cedar Falls, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany.
Cremation has taken place. No services are planned.
