

Pebble Beach ~ Marilyn Jean Franey was born, April 14, 1949 in Trenton, New Jersey to Evelyn and John Franey. She grew up in Bucks County, PA, moved to Detroit, Michigan in her senior year of high school where she graduated from Southfield High School. Marilyn attended Michigan State University receiving an undergraduate degree and masters degree in international languages. She was an ardent Michigan State fan for the rest of her life, especially loving basketball and football. Marilyn workd for General Motors Corporation from 1974 and until her retirement in 2002.
Marilyn met the love of her life, Tom Stevens, and they married on New Year’s Day 1992. They settled in “Paradise,” Pebble Beach, CA in 2008. That same year, she realized her dream of working with the Southern Sea Otters and SORAC at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, logging over 1000 volunteer hours. Throughout her life, Marilyn was dedicated to her family and her many animals.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Franey. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Stevens, Sr.; sons, Tom Jr. (Jennifer), Brian (Alina) and Robert; brother, Ron (Nancy) Stevens; sisters, Mary and Laure Stevens; dear cousin, Cheryl Cavanaugh; grandchildren, Abigail, Ashlin, Gehrig, Brady and many dear friends.
