Pacific Grove ~ Robert R. Downing, a 69-year resident of Pacific Grove, passed away on March 16. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he was a graduate of Pacific Grove High School. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Robert began a career spanning over thirty years as a carpenter working in home construction.
Robert was a member of the Pacific Grove High School Alumni Association and the Carpenter’s Union. He loved spending time with his family at their cabin at White Rock where he served as manager for ten years.
Robert is survived by Betty, his wife of sixty years; his children, Michael (Vicki) of Grass Valley, Patty Higuera of Pacific Grove and Deborah (Richard) Swenson of Lincoln, California; his sister, Barbara Dalpino of Hayward; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a nephew and two nieces.
At his request, no services will be held.
