Robert “Bob” Louis Verwold, 76, of Monterey, California, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 15, 2025.
Born on December 30, 1948 in Carmel, California, Robert attended Pacific Grove High School before being drafted to the United States Army in 1968. Robert selflessly served our country during the Vietnam War.
After serving in the Army, Robert worked as the Street Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Pacific Grove until retirement. His most memorable contribution to our community is the rock retaining wall near Lover’s Point Beach along Ocean View Blvd in Pacific Grove. If you look closely, you can find hidden concrete handprints from his son within the wall. He took pride in his work and was a mentor to many.
Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Verwold; his children, Michael Verwold and Lisa Vogt (Aaron); his grandchildren, Destinee, Taylor, Jack, Colin, and Amelia; and his great-grandchildren, Hudson, Taylee, and Kason.. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Adolph Verwold, and his brother Gilbert Verwold.
His service will take place on April 10, 2026 at 2:00pm at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to invite you to a celebration of life following the ceremony at The Carpenter’s House Church in Seaside, California.
