

Benjamin L. Slone (Ben), 97 years young of Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed away on October 21, 2021. Despite having been fully vaccinated, Ben suffered from complications from Covid-19 and passed at the Trust Bridge Gerstenberg Hospice Center in West Palm Beach, FL. He leaves a large and deeply devoted extended family including his beloved wife Sandra L. Slone (Sandy), and five children, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is survived by his son Peter Slone and his wife Wendee Wolfson of Washington, DC; daughter Kerry and husband Harvey Muskat of Miami; son Michael and Donna Singer of Alachua, FL; daughter Marcie Roth and Donovan Leighton of Urbana, MD; son Howard Roth and Kate Peters of Wolcott, CT.
His cherished grandchildren are Ben Slone of Charlotte, NC; Haley Slone of Victor, ID; Durga Sptaru (Leor); Jessica Specht (Chris) of Silver Springs, MD; Dustin Snowadzky (Jessica Justus) of Funkstown, MD; Alexander Roth of Tampa, FL; Nicholas Roth of Boston, MA; Kenneth Muskat of Miami, FL; and Kevin Muskat of Dallas, TX.
A son of immigrants Sam and Ida Brody Slonimsky and born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, Ben attended James Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT and subsequently
earned his advanced BS/PharmD from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. Following service in the United States Navy, Ben joined his brothers Julian and Saul as a co-owner and pharmacist of Slone’s Pharmacy in New Milford, CT. The Slone brothers, including Julian and Saul who pre-deceased him, provided pharmacy services to generations of Litchfield County, CT residents, the New Milford Hospital and other local healthcare providers. Ben’s service to the community spanned fifty years.
Ben was an avid golfer, bridge player and resident of Ballen Isles in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Earlier Ben and Sandy were long tenured members of Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton, CT.
Incredibly affable and friend to so many who knew him as the “Real Big Ben”, he was always generous, deeply caring for family and friends and always game for a lively discussion on topical political, financial and community issues. He was a prodigious reader of fiction and never missed an issue of the Palm Beach Post and New York Times.
Ben was as generous as he was kind. He and his wife Sandy have been longtime supporters of the American Cancer Society, Trustbridge Hospice of the Palm Beaches Foundation.
Private interment at Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches will complete Ben’s journey.
