

Ellen Druck Mirtz, 79, passed away peacefully in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on March 12, 2021 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of John Mirtz, exceptional mother of Karen Hios (Anton) and Kevin Wassong (Tami), adoring and adored grandmother of Alexis Hios, Sara Hios, Matthew Wassong and Luke Wassong and sister of Nancy Druck Brassem. Ellen was born in New York City on May 3, 1941 to Kalman and Pearl Druck. She grew up in Larchmont, NY graduating from Mamaroneck High School where she was a leader and a Majorette. She attended Syracuse University and went on to work at Young & Rubicam, Spotlight Magazine and ran her own corporate gift buying service. Ellen and John raised their family in Rye, NY for 40 years until they moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Ellen’s proudest achievement was her family. She would tell anyone who would listen with great enthusiasm about them and their achievements. Ellen excelled at many things including being a talented portrait painter, sculptor, avid golfer and lover of music, especially Elvis and the oldies. Ellen met the love of her life, John, at a party in 1973. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary last fall. They loved visiting family, travel and playing golf together. Ellen was a long time member of Westchester Country Club where she was the 18 holers Chairlady, Mixed Club Champion with John and won the Senior Ladies Championship. Ellen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to the American Cancer Society. https://www.cancer.org
