Esther Mollie, 87, of Jupiter passed away on March 28, 2024. Originally from Detroit, MI, she graduated from Cass Tech High School at the age of 16. She attended Western State Normal School, which is now Western Michigan University, where writing was her passion. Esther began her life with Jerry, her husband of 54 years, when they wed in 1956. Together, they farmed tomatoes for two years. As Jerry built his career, Esther focused on their children. She raised her daughters—Debora and Eileen, and her sons—Herbert and the late Michael Hartman. She was heartbroken by the loss of Michael, but channeled much of her love into his namesake, her granddaughter Michelle.
Together, Esther and Jerry explored the broadcasting industry in Puerto Rico. As partners in both business and life, they developed the former tomato farm into what is now Cypress Cove of Jupiter. Their land development and broadcasting pursuits were successful to the extent that they became avid philanthropists later in life—supporting The Maltz Theater, Temple Beth Am, and Jupiter Medical Center. She enjoyed going to the theater, traveling, watching Jeopardy, and reading the “Dear Abby” column. Beyond appreciating “Abby’s” advice, Esther was an avid and talented writer. She wrote her own column for the Weekday Newspaper called “Molly’s Moments.” It was quirky, and loosely based on her life.
Esther was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, which grew to include Herb’s wife Cindy, and Eileen’s husband Chris. She adored her granddaughters (Tamara Hartman Melson, Kacy Turenne Robertson, Jaclyn Turenne Foti, and Michelle Turenne), grandson (Matthew Hartman), grandsons-in-law (Zack Melson, Forrest Robertson, and John Foti) and great grandson (Morgan Robertson).
Esther was predeceased by Jerry, as well as her sister Cyrille, and her brothers, Solomon and Herbert. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd at Temple Beth Am in Jupiter, FL at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jupiter Medical Center, The Maltz Jupiter Theater, or a charity of your choice in Esther’s name.
