Born on June 10, 1941, in Washington, D.C., Jack was the son of Bernard Rosenberg and Rose (Shor) Rosenberg. He was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, and attended Calvin Coolidge High School. Jack went on to the University of Maryland for his undergraduate studies, Georgetown University for dental school—where he graduated first in his class—and Northwestern University for his residency in orthodontics.
Jack established Rosenberg Orthodontics, the premiere orthodontics practice in the Washington, D.C. area, based in Burke, Virginia, which he ran with dedication until his retirement. He cherished his work and took great pride in caring for generations of patients. In addition to his private practice, Jack loved teaching. He taught a Residency Program at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC, where he was named “Best Teacher” for 15 consecutive years.
Outside of his professional life, Jack was defined by his energy, curiosity, and love of life. As a young man, he played drums in a band called The Jesters, whose gigs helped fund his education, and he never lost his passion for music and percussion. He was an avid windsurfer, skier, and runner, embracing the outdoors and staying active throughout his life. He had a lifelong affection for dogs and almost never passed one without stopping to say hello. He took great joy in time spent on the golf course—especially the day he scored a hole-in-one at Mirasol.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Dana Rosenberg; his daughter Jaime Thompson, her husband William Thompson, and their children Tallulah and Clementine Thompson; his son Zachary Rosenberg, his wife Viana Rosenberg, and their children Jack and Maya Rosenberg. He is also survived by his beloved stepchildren Michelle Witter, Angelo Arboleda, and Antonio Arboleda, and their children Bella, Marley, Luca, Marco, Sebastian, and Anthony.
Jack is further survived by his sister, Halley Trevas, and her family: Dan and Robin Trevas; Dana Trevas and Chris Shea; David and Avril Trevas, their daughter Simone and her husband Joey Slater, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Jack will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, his devotion to his family and the joy and vitality he brought to every chapter of his life. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
