Dr. James Thomas Howard JR, 92, died peacefully April 18, 2026 at his home in Jupiter, Florida. He was a previous resident of Rye, New York, Bridgehampton, New York and was given the key to the city in St. Remy de Provence, France. He was born January 3, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to James Thomas Howard Sr and Alice Reilly.
James graduated from Gettysburg College and Thomas Jefferson Medical School. He was chief of OB GYN department at White Plains Hospital. He was previously an officer in the Navy where he delivered babies at the naval base in New London, CT.
James was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lawlor.
James is survived by his spouse, Deborah Baden Howard; his children, Kimberly (Gordy) Oppegard, James Thomas (Emily) Howard, Robert (Jennifer) Howard, Peter (Elizabeth) Howard, and James (Heather) Baden; his grandchildren, Chase (Caitlin), Christopher (Madison), Caroline, Anatoly, Irina, Alexandra, James Thomas, Ashleigh, Anne, Hannah, Ryan, Meghan, Phoebe, Keira, and Sierra; and his great-grandchild, Christian.
He was known for his love of life, ability to make people smile and generosity.
A twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face, "Our POP" made this world a better place!
