It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Perlberg on March 11, 2025 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL due to sudden cardiac death. Mark, 68, was universally beloved by everyone he met, and his absence in our community will be deeply felt.
Mark graduated from the University of Rochester magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After receiving his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, Mark began his career as a business litigation attorney in New Jersey. His professional accomplishments made a significant impact and touched many lives. He co-founded a utility bill payment processing business and negotiated its sale to Western Union, where he spent six years before moving to Atlanta, working in senior leadership positions at the John Harland Company and audit firm PRG-Schultz.
After relocating to South Florida, Mark spent fifteen years as the President and CEO of Oasis, which, prior to its sale to Paychex, was the nation’s largest privately-held professional employer organization. Most recently, Mark was a managing director at Nautic Partners, LLC, a private equity firm.
Mark’s lifelong passion was theater. He was an accomplished director, playwright, and theater patron. For more than fifteen years, he served on the board of Palm Beach Dramaworks and was chairman for six years. He co-created the Master Playwright Series, where he prepared and delivered more than a dozen programs on playwrights including Henrik Ibsen, Anton Chekhov, and Tennessee Williams. He was also a sponsor and executive producer of the Perlberg Festival of New Plays, and he directed the first play to be produced in the Studio Theatre at Dramaworks. Prior to that, he served on the board of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta and the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis.
More than anything else, Mark always put his family first. Family was his true love and core motivation for everything he did. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Diane, his three children Matt, Alison, and Steven, their spouses Julie, David, and Rachel (respectively), his five grandchildren Madelyn, Sienna, Ethan, Lucas, and Max, his parents Muriel and Bill, and his sister Elyssa.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mid-America Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the American Heart Association, and Palm Beach Dramaworks.
