Peter Douglas Wein, born September 29, 1950 in Queens, New York, passed away on February 10, 2024 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Peter was born to Philip (1920-2008) and Estelle (1922-2013) Wein and was the middle child of three; older sister Abbye (1948-1984), and younger brother Michael.
Peter’s early career as a jeweler and gemologist gave way to his true passion of ‘schmoozing’ through networking and building connections. An entrepreneur at heart, Peter started the WEINetwork in 2007. Through this endeavor, he was privileged to partner with local musicians, business owners, sports fanatics, and many others who had the same passion as Peter. Peter was an active supporter of the arts including the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, The Lake Worth Playhouse, and other community programming. He loved to play golf, was an avid movie and trivia buff, had a pure appreciation of music, and could always be found hanging out at the beach. Peter received joy and fulfillment in all areas of his life brought by his family and friends. He loved his riddles and had a rye sense of humor. He was a family man, the “unofficial mayor” of anywhere he lived, and a kind hearted soul. Despite having an easy going demeanor and seeming to live a laid back life, the phrase “you can take the man out of New York, but not New York out of the man” summarized him perfectly. Peter’s wife Harriet passed away October 2019 and remained good friends with his ex-wife Amy Smith.
Peter is survived by his brother, Michael Wein, daughters Alexandra Wein and Rachael Wein, niece, Tracy Love Geffen, nephew, Douglas Wein, and granddaughter Eliana Gordon. Please honor Peter’s memory by supporting Relay for Life by The American Cancer Society.
