I "met" Rita in 2017 when her brother Howard was ill. I live in Queens, New York where Howard lived until he moved down to Florida. Howard and I were good friends for over thirty years. After Howard passed away, Rita and I kept our friendship going. We spoke on the phone often. She listened attentively to my stories and she always spoke lovingly of her family and friends. Rita was warm and friendly and smart and she was graciously appreciative of everything I shared with her. Most recently, she enjoyed the SugarFree chocolates I sent her for the 2020 holidays. I will miss my dear friend Rita but I am comfortable knowing she is at peace. My thoughts are with her family and friends. -Herb DeCordova 

To the family and friends of Rita Gotlieb: My name is Paulette Miller and I have been privileged to know Rita for more than 2 years. She invited me to her home almost weekly to play her beloved canasta card game with several other friends. She was a very generous mentor who shared her knowledge of the game as well as her knowledge of life. I felt truly blessed to be able to share time with her and well as the others around the card table. Rita had a way of being a constructive critic, without making you feel criticized. She was a wealth of knowledge and extremely good natured. We chatted off and on this past year as no one was able to be together during the pandemic. We would always inquire about each other's families and friends and talking with her, always made my day a little happier.  Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I shall miss my time with her, as I know all of you will.
