Ancil Durwood Hayes earned his wings on March 27, 2025. He departed peacefully to the arms of his Lord and Savior surrounded by family. He was a beloved husband, father, little papa and great little papa. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Pat sharing a life together for 66 years. Also, his parents Lee and Dora Hayes. Durwood was a graduate of LaPorte High School and was a devoted employee of the US Postal Service until his retirement.
Durwood is survived by his sons Kevin(Jackie) and Bryan(L.T.) Also, his niece Tricia and nephew Frank(Melissa).
Durwood loved being a Little Papa to Jordan(Grady) and Chad(Kayla). Also a Great Little Papa to Kasen, Tallen, Chamber and Mac.
Durwood loved sports, especially being an Oiler and Astro fan. He especially enjoyed watching his son’s play and later his grandchildren. His favorite travel spot with Pat was Las Vegas to play Blackjack and to watch their favorite entertainers.
Durwood’s favorite pastime was playing poker with his long-time buds. He also loved his friendship get togethers, whether traveling or just hanging out at each other’s home.
