Ann Stanphill Orr passed away on January 10, 2026, in her apartment at One Lincoln Park, in Kettering, Ohio. She was born December 21, 1928, in Abbott, Texas, making her 97 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. For most of her life she lived in Texas. She is survived by her twin sisters, Jean Williams (Charlie) and Jane Coffelt; three children, Carol Ann Nancarrow (Donald) of Beavercreek; Ohio, Kathy Marie Orr of San Antonio, Texas; and Thomas Paul Orr (Brenda) of Destin, Florida. She also has seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Billy Earl Orr; brother Charles Stanphill; son James Earl Orr, and two grandchildren, Andrea Nicole Orr Edwards and Kristen Ann Kokernot.
Ann graduated from Abbott High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1945 and finished two years at Texas Women’s University. She took care of her family with great love for her entire life. Ann loved books and was very well read. She and Bill traveled extensively, visiting all fifty states, most Canadian provinces, and several countries in Europe and the Middle East.
A skilled and avid quilter, she made quilts for all the children and grandchildren and baby quilts for all the great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Abbott Methodist Church in her youth and then several Baptist churches in Hillsboro and Pasadena, Texas. Ann and Bill attended South Main Baptist Church for many years. She belonged to the Pasadena Garden Club, where she held several offices.
Ann’s life was not always easy, including time when Bill served in the Korean War, re-building her home after losing almost everything in 1959 to a devastating tornado and a courageous and successful fight against cancer in 2007; she faced each of these challenges with faith in God and great courage.
Her funeral service will be at 2 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Grandview Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas, conducted by Dr. Ron Lyles, retired pastor of South Main Baptist Church.
