Audrey L Thompson

She is survived by her two granddaughters: Raimy Jones and Jaimy Jones; three great grandchildren: Eisley Jones-Yzaguirre, Atticus Miller, and Harper Mack, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Thompson, her daughter, Sheila Reid; and six brothers and sisters.

Born in Springhill, Louisiana, Audrey ended up in Houston in her early teens. It was there, at age 14, she met Warren Thompson, 17 years old. They married in 1957 and would spend 45 years together.

Throughout her life, Audrey was a devoted Christian as a member of the United Pentecostal Church, finding her church home at Pentecostals of Pasadena where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and helped lead youth groups of various ages. Audrey forged life-long friendships within her church family.

She spent many years working as a school bus driver for special needs children in Clear Creek ISD. She loved interacting with the children and it filled her heart to help them end their school day with a kind smile or a silly joke, and always included them in her nightly prayers.

She owned her own antique shop, estate liquidation company, and invested in a number of small properties to the dismay of her family who served as the general labor on those projects.

Audrey especially delighted in her granddaughters. She always had a hug and warm meal for them, and certainly spoiled them whenever possible. She handmade clothes and costumes for special occasions, shuttled them to church, school and became a second “nanny” to many of their friends.

Audrey delighted in children of all ages, was a talented seamstress, and opened her home to her own brothers and sisters over the years, her daughter, as well as young people from her church to help them begin their lives.

Audrey never stopped praying for her friends and family and we know her prayers continue to cover them.

A visitation for Audrey will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home & Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505.
