

Brian David Rodgers was born on October 12, 1952 in Pasadena, Texas to Carmen and Raymond Rodgers. He was raised with his two brothers Jerrold Rodgers and Harold Rodgers in Pasadena. After graduation from Pasadena High School in 1971, he attended San Jacinto College. There he met his wife Patricia Muldrow Rodgers. After they graduated from San Jacinto College in 1975, they went on to graduate from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. Brian earned his B.S. in Education English and Journalism in 1978. Graduating in San Marcos became a family tradition as their two daughters Samantha and Sarah graduated from the same university, later known as Texas State. Patricia and Brian celebrated 37 years of married life on December 27, 2012. During their marriage they lived in San Marcos, San Antonio, Deer Park, and Pasadena.
Brian always had an interest in sports, which included playing softball and baseball, umpiring Little League through high school level softball and baseball, and refereeing men’s City League basketball. He was a decent bowler, adept at shooting pool, and for many years was an active golfer. As he got older he enjoyed watching and attending football and baseball games. In his early years, he took up photography and writing, and later in life his hobbies included genealogical research. During college he was President of both the Future Teachers and Creative Writing clubs.
For more than 25 years he was employed in the chemical industry as a Process Operator and Boiler Operator for U.S. Steel Chemical Division, Mobil Chemicals, and Haldor-Topsoe Chemical Company. He had his Stationary Engineer License with the City of Houston. During the past year, he travelled to Ohio, Oklahoma, and San Francisco working on boiler systems for chemical plants and a hospital. His last employment was working on boilers at the Marathon Chemical Plant in Texas City, Texas with Holman Boilers. During 8 years of his life, he also taught middle and high school English to at-risk students for Galveston and Galena Park Independent School Districts.
Since 1978 Brian took pride in his service to the Fraternal Order of Moose. He was Past Governor of Pasadena Lodge 1721 and served at many other duties there over the years. He held a Fellowship degree and was Past State President for the State of Texas Fraternal Order of Moose. He was a Life Member.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Johnie Barron. Brian passed away on January 8, 2013 as his wife held his hand. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Rodgers; daughter, Sarah Rodgers Tucker and son-in-law Matt Tucker; brother, Jerrold Rodgers and wife Gayle; brother, Harold Rodgers and wife Sue; sister-in-law, Susan Ritchie and husband Stan; sister-in-law, Kathy Barron and sister-in-law, Vickie Sublett. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Patti Harris and Theresa Gibbs; brothers-in-law, John Schmidt and Alejos Rodriguez; nieces and nephews, Trisha Robinson and husband Robert; Amanda Lewis and husband Arthur; Jon Rodgers and wife Sara; April Lucente; Alicia Garza and husband Jeff; Heidi Cress and husband James; Joe Rodriguez and wife Emily; Jessica Maris and husband David; Jacob Rodriguez; Steven Williams and wife Beth; and Stuart Hailey; great-nieces, Stevie Thibodeaux, Cassie Cress, Renee Garza, Mariah Loney and Deja Lewis; great-nephews, Daren and Waren Maris, Bryce Thibodeaux, Tucker William,; Harrison Rodgers, Seth Robinson, Tristan Robinson and Truman Robinson. Both family and friends will miss him greatly.
