Burtis Earl Morris

He passed away June 1, 2016 in Pasadena Texas. Burtis was the middle child of 7 brothers and sisters: Edward, Eugene, Evelyn, Irene, Burtis, Trudy, and Toni. Burtis married Bessie Jane Gaskin on April 18th, 1952 on his 25th birthday. Burtis and Bessie where married 49 years until her death January 1st 2002. He is survived by two children: son, Lennis Earle Morris (Sharon Cochran Morris) of Deer Park, Texas and daughter, Landae Jane Morris Hager (James Douglas Hager) of Kathleen, Georgia; 7 grandchildren: Joel Patrick Morris & Katherine Jane Morris Radfar [Amir Radfar]; Laura Cochran Truitt [Chris Truitt] & Heather Cochran Dobson [David Dobson]; Joshua Hager [Amanda Hager], Jana Hager Owen [James Owen], & Jared Hager and 11 great grandchildren.

Burtis served in the Merchant Marines and as an Army Drill Sargent, was a Golden Gloves Boxer, Demolition/Hard Rock Driller in Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado looking for uranium, and retired after a full career at Rohm & Haas Chemical Company. Burtis was an active member while at Golden Acres Baptist Church and later with the Silver Set Group at First Baptist Church, Deer Park.
