Carla Marie Atkinson

Carla Marie Atkinson, 52, of La Porte, Tx, Passed away January 27th, 2026. She was born in Granite City, Illinois on August 31st, 1973, to Pat and William Ellingham. She was married to Keith Atkinson for 30 years but together for 40 years.

Carla was preceded in death by her mother, Pat Ellingham. In-laws Earl and Sharon Atkinson, and Brother-in-law Bill Atkinson of Dayton, Texas.

Carla is survived by her husband, Keith Atkinson of La Porte, Texas. Her dad, William Ellingham of Dover, Tennessee. Her Children: Son, Dylan and wife Kendall Atkinson of La Porte, Texas. Son, Tyler and wife Brie Ellingham of Pasadena, Texas. Daughter, Veronica Giesler of La Porte, Texas. Her sister, Janice L Wade (Dodd) and husband Thomas C Wade of Saint Peters, Missouri. Her brother, Steven A Dodd and wife of Alton, Illinois. Her sister-in-law, Daleen and husband Scott Green of Dayton, Texas. Her Grandchildren: Abaddon, Paisley, Addison, Jameson, Declan, Karrick, and Emily. Her best friends: Robin Daniels, Stephanie Perry, and Keri Brown. Along with Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Carla passed aways peacefully after battling cancer. Up until the end, Carla maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family as well as friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderfully varied experiences.

Carla’s life can be encapsulated by five words; Family, Friends, Flowers, Food and Fun. She loved her grandchildren to pieces. She was the strongest in the bunch. If you needed anything, she was right there. If you needed a shoulder to cry on, she would let you grieve without a tear in her eye.

She spent her early years as a house wife while her husband worked for the city. As she got older, she was a dedicated member of the Angels and Outlaws as well as the Arena Committee. Carla cherished her friendships, developing them at every stage of her life, with the three girls throughout her childhood to adulthood. And even had babies around the same age and they became best friends.
