Charles Kilchrist Hernandez, affectionately known as Chuck, of Deer Park, Texas passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the age of 69. Chuck was born in Orange, Texas on February 5, 1950 to Aristide and Betty Hernandez. Chuck amazingly worked for only two companies in his lifetime, first for The Upjohn Company and later retiring with Dow Chemical in 2010. In his retirement, Chuck loved to play golf with all his golfing buddies, fishing, traveling with his girlfriend, Janet and spending time with his son, Chase. Anybody that knew Chuck, knew that Chase was his greatest accomplishment and his best friend. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching baseball through Chase’s early years, and never missed a high school or college baseball game that Chase played in. Chuck will be remembered as a compassionate and extremely caring man, who had a little streak of ornery in him. Everyone always said, “There’s only one Chuck Hernandez” and that was absolutely the truth. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his beloved sister, Peggy Riley of Orange, Texas. Chuck is survived by his son, Chase Hernandez and future daughter-in-law, Jennifer Richards of Richmond, Texas, brother Billy and sister-in-law Mary Hernandez of Orange, Texas, brother in law, Michael Riley of Orange, Texas, longtime companion, Janet Tombrella of Santa Fe, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
