David Lee Gray passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022. He was born in Houston, TX on October 3, 1935 to Bert E. and Mary Lydia Gray, was raised in and graduated from High School in Galena Park, TX. He married the love of his life Barbara Clark Gray and shared 64 years of marriage, raising their family in Pasadena. David retired from Uncle Ben’s Rice in Houston after working as an electrician for 35 years. After retirement, he and Barbara travelled, lived in Hemphill, LaGrange and settled in Mont Belvieu.
David’s joy was his family including 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was a marathon runner having run in the Dallas, Houston and Boston Marathons. He also participated in several Senior Olympics winning many medals in track and field events. If you knew David, he was most content riding his Bad Boy Mower for the never-ending grass cutting at their home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Lydia Gray and brother Bert Gray Jr.
David is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughters Debra Kirkpatrick and husband David, Tess Moody and husband Bobby, Leah Jackson and Kim Brock and husband Tim, grandchildren Ashley McPeek and husband Stephen, Chad Brock and wife Brooke, Bill Moody, Jacob Kirkpatrick, Cutter Brock and wife Crystal, Samantha Puryear and husband James, Josh Moody, Ben Moody and wife Elizabeth, Alisha Balderrama and husband Jeremy and Scott Jackson and wife Alyssa, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held June 6, 2022 in the Grandview Chapel from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with the service and interment immediately following.
