

Edward (Pete) Joseph Crew, Sr., 101, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Deer Park, Texas. He was born on March 5, 1923, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Seward Benjamin and Leola Dennis Crew. Edward graduated from Pleasonton High School, in Pleasonton, Texas, where he enjoyed playing football. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines, and bravely went to battle during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1943.
Edward pursued many interests, some of which included going to the casino, traveling, fishing, hunting, camping and BBQing. He loved to go dancing and was very good at it. Edward enjoying the simple things in life like just being outdoors, whether it was working on a vehicle, tinkering in the shop or coaching a little league baseball team. Edward loved his family more than anything. His friends became his extended family. He never knew a stranger and had a gift of making those he met feel special. His was a life well lived.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Barbara Bonnie Jay Crew of forty-nine years, his second wife Barbara Ruth Kloth Crew of twenty-seven years; his son Ed Crew; his granddaughter Jennifer Collins; his grandson Jason Smith; and his son-in-law Butch Watkins. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his children Pamela Collins and husband Danny, Barbara Watkins, Diane Loughmiller and husband Matt, and Calvin Crew and wife Karen; his stepchildren Vickie Smith and husband Dan, David Bliesner and wife Vickie, Seve Bliesner and wife Gail, and Brian Bliesner and wife Tammy; his grandchildren James Womack, Angela Shelman, Michael Watkins, Simone Maher, Lianna Bowers, Joseph Crew, Kimberley Bond, William Schmuck, Michael Schmuck, Johnathan Schmuck, Christopher Collins, Zachary Crew, Jake Crew, and Curtis Crew; his thirty-six great-grandchildren; his eleven great-great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law Meg Coe; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX, 77505, on January 18, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Following the memorial service, a reception will take place at the same location from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
